Less Formally:
I'm originally from Portland, Oregon, lived in Seattle for 12 years, then moved to Vancouver, B.C. My current direction in painting developed out of my practice which began with functional ceramics and traditional film photography, and has also included performance, environmental installations, porcelain sculpture, drawing, naturalistic pet portraits, and figure-based china painting. Life drawing and painting with the colors in my favorite saturated palette are what currently inspire me most. My work is collected internationally. Other loves include my two kids and grandkid, my standard Dachshund, cooking, knitting, hiking, gardening and reading.
My work has been described as richly layered, engaging, and transformative. Clients have said that my images speak to them energetically, and frequently remark on the lasting pleasure a piece of CatherineArt brings to their lives.
